Aalu-Puri With Love!
Navratri is round the corner and our find of the day is meant for both fasting and feasting. Aalu and Puri is always a great combination and even more wonderful when the two become one. Try this version of healthy and filling puris for your upcoming festivities, day picnics, short travels, school tiffins, family get-togethers or even as a quick-fix meal when alone.
Ingredients:
- 3 potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp semolina (rava)
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp jeera powder
- ½ tsp garam masala (optional)
- ¼ tsp ajwain seeds
- 1 tsp kasuri methi
- ½ tsp salt
- Water for kneading
- Oil for frying
Let’s get started:
- Add the wheat flour and semolina in a large bowl.
- Add in mashed potatoes, all spices, salt and a hint of Milliare Groundnut oil.
- Add water and knead into a smooth and tight the dough.
- Add Milliare Groundnut or Mustard Oil to a frying pan or kadhai and put the flame on.
- Make small balls and roll into round and slightly thick puris.
- Fry the puris in Milliare’s Nutty Groundnut Wood Pressed Oil
- for an enhanced and earthy taste.
Expert’s tip:
Grate the mashed potatoes to avoid lumps. Eat hot, eat fresh.
Make these puris farali (eaten during fasts) by using kuttu aata (buckwheat) or singhada aata (water chestnut).
